African American Read-In: Kids' Edition
Celebrating Black History Month
Celebrate African American books and authors by listening to or reading aloud children's and middle grade books written by Black authors.
All members of our community are invited to participate in the National African American Read-In (AARI). Participants can sign up to read excerpts from children's through middle school books written by Black authors or simply drop in anytime to listen. The books can range from picture books to chapter books. Participants are encouraged to pick a selection that they have a connection with. Selections read aloud should be appropriate for all ages. We will have books available for those who don't have a prepared piece but wish to participate. See the African American Read-In: High School and Adult Edition for details on the session highlighting literature for high schoolers and adults.
