Stop by Ignite Studio or Ignite Maker Lab* during November and December to work on a donation for people (or furry friends) in the community.
Between the hours of 5-7pm on Tuesdays (at Ignite Studio) or 10-12pm on Saturdays (at both locations), staff will be available to offer guidance and have materials out for use.** The activities provided on this list cover some of the ways you can participate to help create donations during this Season of Giving.
Hats, Mittens and Scarves | Ignite Studio and Library of Things
Winter will soon be upon us, and extra outdoor gear is always highly requested by aid organizations. Pick up a ball of our recycled or donated yarn and knit it into a colorful scarf or mittens via hand knitting or a hat by checking out the knitting loom from the Library of Things.
One Sock, Two Sock | Maker Lab and Ignite Studio
Warm socks are greatly appreciated by those in need during the winter. Pick up a pair of socks from staff and check out the Embroidery Kit to create a “doodle design”. Or use premade fusible interfacing templates to add some embellishment.
At the Maker Lab, check out the DTF printer* to print out a design onto provided footwear.
Tote Bags for IYG | Maker Lab and Ignite Studio
Decorate a canvas bag using an Acrylic Paint Kit from the Kit Library. Paint our pre-made geometric designs or create your own design at the Maker Lab using the DTF printer* and print a design directly on the surface.
Sleeping Mats | Ignite Studio
Bring in plastic bags and try your hand at weaving them together on the floor loom. After the community weaving is complete, these will be cut into sleeping sized mats and distributed to those in need.
Embroidery Thread Friendship Bracelets | Ignite Studio
Weave a multiple strand bracelet to add to a birthday box that is distributed to patients at Riley Children’s Hospital through the Confetti Foundation.
Cat Mats and Pup Quilts for Hamilton Humane Society | Ignite Lab and Studio
Bring in old t-shirts (adult small and medium sizes work best) to weave a soft square on our t-shirt loom for cats at the Hamilton County Humane Society. Lend an additional hand by sewing a backing onto our already completed squares.
In the Maker Lab, certified patrons can use the quilting arm* to make a small, sturdy quilted mat for pups.
*Must be certified to use. Certification classes can be found online.
**If you visit either location outside of the specified hours, you may ask at the desk for materials (while supplies last) and/or check out the corresponding kit or equipment to create on your own. Leave or drop off what you’ve made in the Studio or the Lab, and we will ensure it delivery.
