Youth Services Small Program RoomJoin kids across the state to read, and discuss the nominees for the Young Hoosier Book Award!
This book club will read selected titles from the 2026-2027 Intermediate Young Hoosier Book Award nominee list from August 2026 to April 2027. Participants will then vote for their choice to win the award in the Intermediate category!
Titles from the Intermediate nominee list are aimed at kids in Grades 3-5 (Ages 8-11). Kids are encouraged to come each month but it is not required! We will not be able to read through the entire list by April so feel free to read books that are on the list but not chosen for the club on your own time as well.
Books will be available for pickup at the start of each month for new participants or at meetings for participants who plan on attending the next month's meeting. Each meeting will feature a book discussion and an activity!

The September selection is: Wander Lost by Laura Martin. Registration opens on August 1st.
Twins Rhett and Nash learn that they are descendants of a board game character who escaped his game and lived in the real world; hence the reason for their mom's strict rule about not ever playing a game. Then, their great-grandfather appears from inside a game and tells the twins their mom has been kidnapped by another evil game character. Now they must figure out which game is holding their mom by playing them all--breaking their mom's number one rule!
