The Harmony in Motion: Jazz Improv Workshop Series is a dynamic, educational, and interactive initiative designed to foster a deeper connection to the art of jazz for participants in the Fishers community. Building on the success of last year’s program, this expanded series combines live jazz performances, expert-led educational talks, and hands-on improvisation workshops led by Brandon Meeks and a talented house band.
The series is focused on creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for aspiring musicians, music lovers, and community members of all ages and skill levels. Each session will begin with a high-energy 30-minute live performance by the house band, followed by a guest speaker from Central Indiana’s accomplished jazz community. These guest speakers will lead insightful discussions on jazz history, techniques, and modern trends in the genre.
A key feature of this series is the interactive element, where attendees will have the opportunity to join the house band for a 45-minute live improvisation session, allowing participants to experiment with their musical ideas and gain real-world experience in jazz performance. The program is designed to empower individuals to explore their creativity, build their confidence, and collaborate with fellow musicians in a supportive, open environment.
Everyone, regardless of background or skill level, will feel empowered to engage with jazz music. If you have your own musical instrument, you may bring it with you. You do not need to attend all sessions in the series, but you are welcome to!
