Join Brandon Meeks, an accomplished local jazz artist with a quintet renowned for its musical excellence. This unique series aims to blend live performances, educational talks, and interactive workshops to inspire, educate, and encourage aspiring musicians of all ages and backgrounds.
Each session in the series will begin with a 45-minute performance by Brandon Meeks and their quintet, showcasing the artistry and excitement of jazz music. Following the performance, Brandon will delve into a brief yet insightful talk, unraveling the intricacies and significance of improvisation in jazz, offering a glimpse into the techniques, theories, and creative processes that underpin the art of improvisation.
The highlight of each session will be the open invitation extended to attendees, aspiring musicians, and community members eager to experience the thrill of improvisation firsthand. With an open-minded approach and a welcoming atmosphere, these workshops will invite participants to join Brandon and the quintet on stage for a 45-minute session of live improvisation.
Everyone, regardless of background or skill level, will feel empowered to engage with jazz music. If you have your own musical instrument, please bring it with you. You do not need to attend all sessions in the series, but you are welcome to!
